Tomislav Ivkovic talks about World Cup

February 10th, 2006 | By: Emir Dedic | No Comments »

Tomislav Ivkovic (46) once the best goalkeeper in Yugoslavia, and now one of the assistant trainers for the Croatian A-team is very excited for the World Cup and the first match against Brazil.

In an interview yesterday Ivkovic said that he cannot wait for Ronaldinho, since he did not play in Croatia-Brazil friendly that was played in Split on August 17th, 2005. Brazilian’s amazing skills are what impresses Ivkovic. However, he said that Croatia plays the best against very tough opponents like Brazil.

There is some truth in that if you look at the World Cup in ‘98 when Croatia came on a brink on the world cup final. There will be no rooms for mistakes this summer, and we have to play at our highest level. We need to turn it up an extra notch. You know other teams will be doing the same; we just have to do it a little better and be One above the rest. Opponents will be tougher, stronger and faster, and we have to adapt our game accordingly and get ready for any foe. In football anything is possible…so rock on and get ready for the summer, because we will be ready.
