Should Bilos be Allowed to Play?
And while FA is thrilled about Bilos playing for the Croatian National Team, current team members had different opinions about the issue.
Darijo Srna had the strongest opinion stating, “What does he think Croatian National Team is, Caritas?” He also questioned his motives of coming to play for Croatia. Is he only doing it because Argentines do not want him anymore, or does he truly want to play for his surrogate motherland?
Dado Prso was less harsh than Srna. If believes that if he is really good that he should come to play, but he also states that only players that fought their place in the Croatian Nats should play.
Tomislav Butina made the only positive comment stating that it would be great to have Bilos on the team. He said that Croatia does not have 500 players to choose from, so any young talent that is good and willing to fight for Croatia should be allowed to play.
I tend to agree with Butina. Yes, Bilos is a natural Argentinian, but hey why the hell not…We do not have a lot of players to choose from so players like Bilos are more than welcome to play on our team. What do you think?

He won’t play with heart, like true croatian players, our team play excellent, powerful football, because all of them play for Croatia with heart. I don’t think it is the case with Bilos, he just won’t be compatible, and he can ruin the spirit of the other players. Maybe the next world cup, not this one, if he shows to actually feel what’s it to play for Croatia. For god’s sake, a man Bilos is a living calculator!

First thing, he’s not guaranteed a spot on the roster – he needs to earn it. You can see how “deep” we are by the team that was sent to play at the Carlsberg Cup. We need more 1st tier players to be made available to the national team. I would prefer that all the players on the team were actually born and raised in the HNS program but that’s not the case and won’t be for a long time – or ever. We are lucky to have a diaspora, and that diaspora’s children, that is so tied to the “homeland”. I believe that if he is truly interested in playing for Croatia (vs. playing in the WC), then he should wait and be part of the Euro 2008 and WC 2010 programs – that will give him enough time to take some classes on how to speak Croatian (or how to speak German or English ;o) ) so he can communicate with the others on the team.
