Scolari to Croatia?….

May 1st, 2006 | By: Soze | 9 Comments »

ScolariThere has been much talk lately about the eventuall location Luiz Felipe Scolari will choose as his next destination. Will he go to England? Is Portugal where he will stay or is he going back to Brazil to coach at the club level again?

Now that it has been confirmed that he will not be that next Sven, a new possibility has emerged. Recent grumblings have alerted us that Felipao is in the midst of back door dealing with the Croatian FA.

A source close to the HNS president, Vlatko Markovic, has said that both he and Scolari are in Germany but would not confirm weather a meeting is taking place.

Felipao has recently been spotted looking at a map of Croatia. Well, it was a map of Europe but his finger was defenitely pointed somewhere in Croatia’s direction. As most people know, Big Fil is an avid pizza eater, he has been known to frequent the all-you-can-eat-pizza establishments both in Brazil and Lisbon. And now, with the opening of a new such restaurant in Split, he has surely been swayed to take a look at us as his next coaching challenge.

More news coming up as they break.

Scolari? Croatia has produced a vast array of top quality coaches. Although, a Brazillian coach coaching the Brazil of europe could be a mean combination! But i’d still be sad to see Kranjcar go…

This could be good for Croatia. Since Croatia had gained independence and began to play on the world stage we have had Croatian managers which have been successful for us. If the Croatian FA do seem to sign Scolari as the next manager it might be good for the team. Since he is an experienced manager he can hopefully help Croatia build a stronger team by helping us focus more upon our offense not just our defence. (Hopefully to stop us from losing or dawing games against teams we should beat i.e. malta)

Another soap opera develops under our noses? I thought Scolari would have peace after the English mess! Poor man!

He’s turned down the PSV position. Maybe Croatia is the plan…

There’s a good chance that Zlato Krancjar has said he won’t do the next WC. Mr Scolari is well-respected in Croatian football circles and may well come to Croatia. Hope Mr. scolari’s finger doesn’t get him in trouble.

Hmmm I’m undecided about what to think. If this is true, and Scolari is heading towards coaching Croatia, it could be a good thing, although I have always been proud of our own countrymen coaching our national team. Pride aside though, the most important thing is to win, and going by Scolaris past efforts, he does have a good track record.
