Lothar Matthäus: Croatia, Japan in..Brazil OUT!!
Mr. unproffesional himself, Lothar Matthäus, has started trash talking. In a recent interview, the onetime Germany captain and world cup winner, laid down his predictions for the world cup. His choices to lift the cup this year are England and Argentina.
Where this interview became interesting is when asked about Brazil’s chances, he stated. “They (Brazil) have a very weak defense and I don’t believe they will raise the cup for the sixth time. In fact I do not believe they will even make it out of the first round.”….OUCH!
He goes on to say….”In their group are 3 very tough teams. Australia has been very well positioned by Guus Hiddink, who eliminated much of the problems they were experiencing before his arrival.
Japan is also a team that will create problems for Brazil…let’s not forget the outcome of the Confederations Cup against Japan, 2:2… and let’s not forget about Zico, a man who knows everything about the Brazilian style of football.
The last hurdle is Croatia. A strong team that gave Brazil a run for their money in their friendly match last year.”
I think he is the only person on this planet with that opinion. He must have has one helluva bad experience in Brazil to be saying things like that. Even though…it would be nice to see Japan…as well as Croatia…go through to the next round. At that point I will say that the goalie of the tournament would be Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi of Japan.

Joe, Lothar and myself are starting a new movement for group F>Croatia and Japan are through,Brazil and Australia are out…discuss.

Very eloquent, Joe! “BRAZILS IN BIG TIME SHIT”… that’s funny.
Well, you know, everything can happen!

All speculation. Brazil is a strong team and that is the generally accepted. Japan doen’t have the firepower of Brazil and fields a shorter team, a deficit that has to be made up for with better attack play. Ball possession is the key and Brazil’s talent is definitely strong in that area. Croatia’s young players can be an achilles heel that has to be overcome with above average team play. Brazil’s attacking play puts its opponents on their heels and if Brazil’s opponents can handle that attack then there is a chance of offensive play otherwise Brazil wins out.
