Somewhere in between. The game was a lot tougher than I thought. They were both going at each other very hard, not dirty, just hard.

In all due respect, Croatia dominated. Iran played a defensive game (Kind of badly mite i add) and their counter attacks depended only on Moronic Croatian mistakes. Croatia took of their entire 1st choise napad around the 70th minute, whilst Iran kept Karimi, Hashemain on the entire game.

All in all a fair result, because Croatia ddnt fully deserve to win.

Iran came in there with a point to prove. While I think Croatia wasn’t playing 100% to save themselves for the real friendly, the Spain match.

It’s not surprising Iran gave Croatia a tough time, because they had a Croatian coach.

I didn’t see the first half. so I can’t opine on that. But, Karimi and Hashemian were subbed I believe early in the 2nd half.

Also, for Iran the result was not as important as getting to play against a strong team like Croatia.

Iran has not played against a strong team in a months.

As far as Croatia goes, they should not put too much value on this game. The result would have been different if this was a competetive game. Croatia is a very good team.

I think that is the style of play we’ll see from Iran in Germany. They’ll sit back and pick their chances.

Croatia seemed a lot sloppier than usual. I would expect a more disciplined approach from them.

Cool to get a chance to watch both teams play. Thanks for the link.

Dunno if it was the live feed or the rain but what I saw of Croatia was quite poor. We had the majority of possesion but did nothing with it, though I only saw from the second half. Defending comedy for Iran’s second goal.

Lucky for the penalty, right at the death.

Pletikosa is crap, give Didulica a go.

Tokic passed it to an Iranian player who stood right in front the goalie! Yep, Iran is that good. They scored on it. Please, it was the worst match I’ve seen Croatia play in quite a time (mostly because of Tokic and Tomas). And how many chances in front of the damn goal did Croatia get? Like 5, and yet they couldn’t score on them. Really terrible and disappointing. Let’s hope a miracle happens and both Tokic and Tomas don’t play in the WC.

Didn’t see it but caught the radio feed. Not at home today. Sounded pretty sloppy on Croatia’s part, and they didn’t finish. Whether Iran rates good or not a team takes what given to them and Iran did capitalize. Bonehead play by Croatia alright. Weather sounded lousy and not saying that is an excuse at all. Croatia took some lumps and pulled their starters.

Croatia played a very horrible game today. Iran had very good counter attacks and borhani and karimi took full advantages of them! Croatia got VERYYY lucky for the last min. screw up by the iranian keeper which led to the penalty. And yes, both sides did not play with their full squads, iran was missing mahdavikia, their star player. by second half, both sides were playing with their “B” teams.
very good result for iran. Iran and croatia will both go through to the second round.

I am assuming you forgot how the referee disallowed a pure Iran goal (definitely onside), let alone a ridiculous 6 minute sxtra time!
