Croatia Vs. Brazil: The Line Up.

June 13th, 2006 | By: Soze | 49 Comments »

TacticCico has announced the Croatian starting line against Brazil: Pletikosa - Šimunic, Robert Kovač, Šimić - Srna, Niko Kovač, Tudor, Babić - Kranjčar - Pršo, Klasnić.

He is putting the following tasks out to his players. Šimunic is designated with keeping an eye on Adriano, Šimić’s man is Ronaldo and Igor Tudor has the most difficult job of all..keep tabs on the Chupacabra himself, Ronaldinho. Good luck my man.

Five years ago, Ronaldo and Šimić played together in Inter and Dario was in charge of keeping up with the striker and making his life difficult during training. Ronaldo said Dario did that very well.

On the other end of the field, Niko Kovač is in charge of taking Kaka out of play and Srna and Babić are to duel it out with Roberto Carloas and Cafu. A new tactic for the game against Brazil will be Niko Kranjčars job of shadowing Ze Roberto, placing Dado Pršo on Emerson watch. This places Dado in a more defensive role he may not be so used to. Perhaps this was the reason we played so defensively against Spain during which Pršo hardly attacked the net and kept his position back. Klasnić will be our scoring weapon in the first half, with a probable sub with Olić in the second half.

So there we are, it’s as good as it’s gonna get. I hope they got someting out of the friendlies they played and the month long training camp. I’ve got my house all done up in Croatian and Brazilian flags. I’ve got the Brahma and Karlovacko in the fridge, Cevapcici and Kobasice ready for the grill and I’m hoping that I don’t loose the new wager I’m involved in. Our friend Euler and I have a little bet on the outcome of the game. The looser pays for dinner at Porcão Rio’s. It’s gonna be festive here.

For a first game not a bad performance on Brazil’s part but not awe-inspiring either. Brazil took the field knowing this would be its toughest test in an easy draw: Japan and Australia cannot possibly put up much of a fight, and you could sense that the Braz were holding back from unsnapping and revealing their bounties entirely. A bit disappointing for us, but if the score holds, it’s still a victory against one of Europe’s tougher teams, in Europe. The worry, of course, is Ronaqldo, whose cup size has gone from runneth over to double z, for snooz.

Nice run there, but not the overwhelming display of power we expected from Brazil. Croatia has a strong defense, but Brazil was also short of ideas on more than one occasion. It wasn’t all Ronaldo’s fault. They have a bit of work to do if they’re to get back to their bounties–and our joys. Croatia’s offense was a nice good surprise too. Japan and Australia look like they have no chance.

Hey Croatia! Nice try with that extra man on the field. I kid of course, but that juvenile delinquent almost fooled the ref into thinking he was a player.

Also a nice try with those “ref whistles” from the stands. Every time Brazil got into the box in the first half, your fans made him look up to see if the game was stopped.

Interesting ploy. Did your breath run out for the second half, or were you just loaded on all the beer?

Hey Satoshi Sasaki! Please tell us more. Your brain is so super-huge, we are amazed.

How did you find out Brazil likes to warm-up against weaker teams? Must have taken long hours of fact searching and manual labor and sleepless nights.

Good going there, definitely!

Mike, try ESPN360.com

They have live feeds of the games, but only for some ISPs. Chances are though, it will work, because this includes many ISPs across the country.

Miguelinho,

The only fans I saw with whistles on there mouths were the Brazilians.

BTW the pitch invasion may have prevented a 2nd Brazilian goal but I stress MAY HAVE.

You have to agree that this was the best from the fans in the cup so far…. yes?

Yep Brazil had the most colourful and beautiful fans in this world cup thus far but their team’s performance was dismal and Croatia must rue the fact that they do not have Daryl Suker in their midst.

As long as Croatia learn from today’s game, and play Japan and Australia with the same intensity and style as they showed against Brazil, then there are some positive things to take from this result.

A draw seemed very likely and would have been a realistic reflection of the possession and chances that both teams had.

Croatia were well organised in midfield and the defence was sound except for a few lapses that can be expected against a team like Brazil.

I was surprised that the ball was not sent down Srna’s wing more often. Babic had an excellent game, and it may be that our midfield will be our key strength in the next two games.

Croatia have an excellent chance of going through. We just have to step up and play the next two games in the same fashion that we started against Brazil.

A solid start to the World Cup for us. If a few things had gone our way, then a draw or even a win were on the cards until the last minutes.

Bring on Japan!

Niko

I don’t think luck had anything to do with Kaka’s goal. He is a brilliant player and took an opportunity given to him.

Hey Denis talk bout ur head in the clouds, lucky shot by Kaka? that was a magnificent goal and FINAL??? Pls man don’t embarass urself. U still havn’t beaten anyone at this world cup and have to beat Japan in order to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon and a quick EXIT from this WC. Just caus u held Brazil to 1 goal doesn’t change the end result. Brazil WON!! and that was that. All it done was save u from the indignity of having to be at the bottom of the group via goal difference but if u lose to Japan, goal difference won’t save u.

by lucky shot I didnt really mean KAKA was lucky, I meant that he wouldn’t of had that shot if Kovac was still in game.

And by the way Liverpool, australia is not gonna go anywhere croatia is gonna beat them, and Japan, so you can, start buying your team the tickets home a little early. One lucky game against Uruguay, ONE lucky Game against JAPAN, and two games you wont have luck with, CROATIA and BRAZIL BABY..WHo cares about yur three points, thats the only points you guys are going to get..Dont thinks your so cools cuz you guys are in the world cup now.
It will just be more painfull when you guys realize your 3rd in the Group..

LETS GO CROATIA!!!!

HERE A POEM I MADE COUPLE OF DAYS AG

My Little lucky croatian poem….

Hello Croatia how are you, My name is Denis and I love you. My prayers will always be with you. My fellow Croatia and I will always belive in you. Makes us proud, and we will remeber you. Even if you lose we will still love you. Win the world cup and I will see, if I can do the same as you. You are the croatian heros who we belive in the most. Im proud to be croatian and I will always give it my most, and I will also give a toast to the croatian crew, and the people that love football and that respect you.

Red white and blue, are the color that are true, the checkers on your shirts dont lie, they makes us proud of who we are. We dont expect very much from you, we would just love to see a win or two, as long as you makes us proud I will always remeber you. Not just me, but everybody in the croatian crew. Go croatia go, never give up on us and we will never give up on you. Croatia I love you so much that I would win the world cup just for you. If you give croatia a chance we will use it wisely and we will never stop the dance, and we will also go ahead of our group and easyly advance. Football is always in our blood, and Croatian Football spirit is alwais in every croatians mood, score for us once, we will love you twice. Score for us twice, we’ll make you ice. If you win for us, we will always support you and then you can always depend on us.

FOR THE CROATIAN SOCCER TEAM AND ALL THE CROATIANS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO LOVE CROATIA AND WANT THEM TO WIN…

LETS GO CROATIA..!!

God chose Simunic to be born in Australia, but Simunic thought he was smarter than God and so played for Croatia!
God ended up having the last laugh at Simunic’s expense and Simunic didn’t enjoy it one bit as we could see from his temper tantrum. Go to church Simunic and ask for forgiveness for thinking that you’re better than God…and learn to speak proper Croatian while you’re at it!
It’s time we had true blooded born-in-Croatia players, not overseas wannabes coming and taking our birthright away from us.
