Butina Not Fit…
There is a large rift in the populations opinion as to who should be the starting in net for Croatia. There are the ones who think that Tomo Butina should continue to mind the entrance while some believe that Stipe Pletikosa is the man for the job. I don’t think many people give Didulica any chance of starting.
“Both Pletikosa and Didulica are ahead of Butina at the moment, but I will make my decision at the end of the tuneup matches. That’s what they are designed for,” said Kranjcar.
Here is an article on the status of Croatia’s goalie situation

Hello, I think its a hard decision to decide wich goaly to put in the world cup.
Butina seems to do better sometimes then pletikosa and then pletikosa somethimes seems like he is better then butina. I just hope cico is lucky and gets the right person in our goal. because its going to critical to put an efficiet goaly. When we play brazil we will see shots from far away, and its going to be nervou wrecking for the goaly. But I will be bitting my nails and hope that everything goes Croatias way.

To tell you the truth of the three goalies coming to Germany with the team I think Pletikosa is the weakest. Especially after witnessing in person a couple of his games for Hajduk last summer, including the 5-0 drubbing Debrcen gave them at Poljud for the Champ. League qualifying.

I beleive Croatia’s best goalie is Joey Didiluca. Butina parrys too many balls away and doesnt make many clean saves, this was evident at Euro 2004. Pletikosa also has many weaknesses, I have seen quite a few of his games and he is suspect when going for the high balls. Didiluca doesnt seem to have any noticable weaknesses. People need to remember what a sensational goalkeeper Drazan Ladic was at France 98, without him we wouldnt have made the semi-finals. Forget about Boban, Prosinecki(failure at France 98 anyway) and Asanovic, without Ladic we wouldnt have acheived 3rd place. Thank god we have a strong defence, because our goalies are average at best!

Soze, the first statement in your blog was proven right, there’s a variety of opinion for each of the goalkeepers. Bigone, liked your post on the Aussie site dealing with Viduka chosen Captain.

Thanks Kapcro, but in relation to Pletikosa, as I said earlier, he is weak on the high balls and this was proven again in the Austria match. He caught the ball from a corner and carried it into his own net. I am glad that Didulica was given a go in the second half, I hope they use him as their number 1.

Didulica made a nice save near the end of the match. There were no real threats to him during his keep, but when challeged, Didulica did aight’. I don’t think he will be #1. As soon as Butina is fit, he will be placed on duty.
