Willkommen Kroatien!
Or of course, Welcome Croatia!
Seems we always hit the friendliest and warmest places to camp our players in. That’s the kind of impression our players surely got upon arriving to Bad Tatzmannsdorf (let’s refer to it as “BT“), where a crowd of 4.000 showed up at the town square to meet them.
To make things merrier, the locals were well supplied with Croatian NT essentials, so despite the persistent rain it was an afternoon painted in red and white. In addition, it seems that Luka Modric took the spotlight again as some of his real size carton posters fell victim to a random “I love you” writings.
A young teenage girl was apparently apprehended and brought to justice. No seriously.
Anyways, after the usual welcoming procedures, players have started settling in and a wave of optimism seemed to be present on this morning’s conference. I quote Bilic: “There is a very realistic possibility a surprise package will win like Greece did in 2004 and I think we are quite capable of doing it”. Well said and well worthy of me lifting my “NO OPTIMISM ALLOWED” ban. More of this..this enthusiasm please. Let’s put some of those (un)friendly woes behind us.
Oh and here’s a glimpse of yesterday’s atmosphere:

Will Rakitic be a starter on the Croatian squad for the euros?
Posted from
United States

I doubt he will start

i don’t think so..but he’ll probably play..and..a lot..

Kalinic has looked the most impressive striker in training according to all reports.I’d like to see him and Rakitic get a run against Austria at some point.Kalinic probably won’t get a look in but Petric has hardly trained and Olic and Klasnic don’t do it for me anymore.

I am hoping that Bilic has kept Kalinic off the field to make him an unknown quantity/surprise for our opponents. Perhaps Bilic will bring him off the bench in the 60th-70th minute; lets hope so… Its not like anybody else is scoring.
