Agreed on the worrying part, but Ivan below got it spot on, we tend to do things the hard way.

I agree. Runje, while having an illustrious club career has yet to show anything on the international scene. Granted, he hasn’t had much chances, but every time he steps up I have a feeling we’ll concede a couple. 4:3 against Izrael always comes to mind.

And you’ve a valid point regarding friendlies, dunno what’s the point of missing out on these. And as we play the first game against Belarus on 12th of August (calendar for friendlies if I’m not mistaken, a weird weird decision), I believe that’s the first action our team will see post Ukraine.

Comments on the game against Ukraine….. I thought Runje had an aweful game. The 1st goal was on him, the cross comes that close to the goal he has to come out and play the ball, he just stood on the line and watched it go by him. The 1st half we were flat. Thats on Bilic and the Federation. Why haven’t we played any friendly games leading up to the qualifliers? Training is one thing but to get our timing right we need game action. Even playing our starters for a half against a decent team before the Ukraine game would have been a huge benefit in my opinion. We better play a friendly before the Belarus game or I will be pissed.

Not to worry Kevin. We tend to do things the hard way. Its still in our hands. Bilic admitted he made a mistake with the lineup he put on the field. Every midfield position player he started was an attacking midfielder and it lead to trouble in the flow of our game. Our next game is on the 19th of August (a lot of time for our boys to realize what we have to do against Belarus). Then 3 weeks later the white rusians come back to Zagreb. We need to get 6 points from those 2 games.

Hey, new to the blog, big fan of how Croatia plays. Tied with Ukraine in points now I believe. I’m actually starting to get a little worried about qualification.
