@Alex & Denis: Regarding Babic, I guess it’s the “no games-no self esteem-no quality” syndrome. One way to treat that is definitely a summer transfer. A mid-table German club might be just the thing.

@polandsucks: It’s true our centre-backs are getting slow, though I think it’s fair to say they were never actually pacey to begin with. It’s their match fitness that’s the problem.

Is this an attempt at sarcasm? I hope so because balaban is perhaps the worst striker to ever “earn” a cap for Croatia…
Babic needs to go back to Germany. the few times i’ve seen him with Betis made me cringe…the problem is less about quality than complete lack of self-confidence.
Just finished watching Zenit’s final and was blown away by Krizanac. Tall, athletic defender who can pass the ball and is comfortable building play from the back-perfect fit for our style. Certainly much better than Knezevic… he will definately be needed for wc qualifiers as Simic and Kovac are getting on (they were getting on 4 years ago, tell the truth…)

marko babic is aweseome, he has a lots of control on the ball. Im surprised those spanish people dont put him in! His passes are amazing, he rarely loses the ball when someone is attacking him. when we started our Euro Qualification 2008 campaign, Babic was in the game vs England in zagreb. Italy…etc he had a some great assists.

He needs to get out of spain, and find a club he can play regularly with…

There was some talk of Cvitanich playing for us but it was sort of subtle and ended rather quickly, unlike the Bilos saga. Though Cvitanich said that he would gladly play for Croatia, as there’s too much competition in Argentina’s squad. Some here think that if/when he moves to Europe, our folks in FA will again take interest in him.

I believe it’s the latter with Babic, that he simply lacks the quality.
About Krizanac, well to tell you the truth he was (perhaps still is) a complete unknown here. The media did start chasing him recently though, and they even managed to get him in a mix up with Bilic, due to some interviews and words getting twisted around. It’s all sorted out apparently, the 2 had met and Bilic told Krizanac he’s a contender for a spot in the next WC qualifiers.

These names only show how strong your final squad is. I’m really surprised that Babic didn’t get a game at Betis, was it because of injuries or is he just too weak for Primera Division? What about Krizanac, is he renowned in Croatia?
