Bring It On…Not

June 1st, 2008 | By: Mario | 2 Comments »

Well, that was a rather underwhelming performance from our boys against Hungary. We started furiously, but after 8 minutes (!?), we…well …we sucked. End of story.

Friendly Preview: Hungary

Things to know:
Why Hungary?
Bilic has said a few times that Hungary’s play style resembles those of our Group “B” opponents.
They’re described as a solid side with lots of international experience. Though they’re apparently lacking some important players like Halmosi, Tozser and Rajczi. One thing’s for sure, it’s a definite step up in quality compared to [...]

Kranjcar: Pressure Is Off

May 29th, 2008 | By: Mario | 3 Comments »

That’s “Kranjcar” pressure, not “Croatia” pressure. Let me try and elaborate. Between years 2004 and 2006, Croatia’s national coach was none other than Niko’s father, Zlatko Kranjcar. I might sound a little harsh here but the sole reason Niko was brought up to the team was indeed nepotism. Why? Well somewhere around his NT debut, [...]

Eduardo Making Progress

May 28th, 2008 | By: Mario | 5 Comments »

When it’s labeled as a “turbo swift recovery”, I guess it’s pretty damn fast.
According to reports coming in from Brazil, Eduardo has apparently “thrown away his clutches” and started running again! That’s just three months after suffering what was believed to be a career threatening injury! Ha! Pardon my enthusiasm, but I’ve come [...]

Friendly Review: Moldova

May 25th, 2008 | By: Mario | 6 Comments »

Exactly two weeks before our EURO mission kicks off, our team decided to lock horns with a fairly modest Moldova side. The match was played on Kantrida (Rijeka) in front of roughly 7.000 spectators. Bilic opted for a mixed starting eleven, including the likes of Pranjic and Budan coming in to replace our usual suspects.

An Update Or Two

May 19th, 2008 | By: Mario | No Comments »

Or five, to be exact. Here’s some of the stuff that made the headlines over the weekend:
Supporters page launched:
Over at “www.uvijekvjerni.com” (translated as “always faithful”), you can find your daily dose of Croatian NT exposure. The page itself looks pretty fancy and well executed, and with regular updates (*bows his head in shame*) and quality [...]
